Hudson Junior Invitational - Local Rules and Conditions of the Competition

Tees – Boys Black - Girls White

ONE BALL RULE: Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is NOT in effect. Model Local Rule G-4.

Out of Bounds
Out of Bounds is defined by white stakes – During play of Hole #1, the driving range on left side of hole, defined by white stakes, is out of bounds.

Penalty Areas
Penalty Areas are defined by red or yellow stakes.  During play of Hole #5, the wooded area on the right side of hole, is now marked a red penalty area.

UNMARKED PENALTY AREAS (Natural Areas): All unmarked areas of native grass that border some holes, are considered penalty areas. These areas are not marked, however if a player’s ball comes to rest in these areas, players are entitled to relief, under penalty of one stroke. When the penalty area is not defined by lines, the natural boundary of the native area and golf course will define the margin of the penalty area. Under penalty of one stroke, the player may take two club-lengths from the spot where the ball last crossed the margin of the penalty area.  Please Note:  Natural Area Right of #6 and Right of #8 should be played as Ground Under Repair.  You cannot play out of this area.  You can walk in to get your ball but please do not hit out of this area. 

Putting Greens
Relief must be taken from ball on wrong green or Fringe of wrong green, this includes practice putting greens– Rule 13.1f and D-4

PRACTICE: Prior to and after a round in stroke play, a player may practice on the designated practice areas. Rule 5.2b covering practice in stroke play is modified in this way: A player may not practice on the competition course before or between rounds. Model Local Rule I-1.2
· Penalty for first breach of this rule is the general penalty.
· Penalty for second breach of this rule is disqualification.


PRACTICE BETWEEN HOLES: Between the play of two holes, a player must not make any practice strokes on or near the putting green of the hole just completed or test the surface of that putting green by rubbing the putting green or rolling a ball. Model Local Rule I-2.
· Penalty for breach of this rule is the general penalty.


Abnormal Course Conditions and Integral Objects – Rule 16
Ground under repair is defined by any area encircled by a white line Ground under repair includes French drains, newly sodded areas, newly seeded areas, ruts made by vehicles, turf disturbed in tree stump removal and flower beds.  Wood chips and mulch are considered loose impediments.

Immovable Obstructions include surfaced roads or paths, staked trees (including stake, wire, stake supporter and tree), rain shelters, pump house, telephone poles and cables, irrigation control boxes, fences, restrooms, sprinkler head, gas wells, yardage markers
Hole #6 and #10 Bunker and Newly Sodded Area is Ground Under Repair – You are not permitted to play out of these areas and relief must be taken.

F-5 Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens - “Relief from interference by an immovable obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1.  The player also has these extra options to take relief when such immovable obstructions are close to the putting green and on the line of play: Ball in General Area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is:
On the line of play and is:
Within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
Within two club-lengths of the ball.
Exception – No Relief If Line of Play is Clearly Unreasonable. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.

Inclement Weather - All practice areas are closed during an immediate suspension for a dangerous situation until the Committee has declared them open. Players who practice on closed practice areas will be asked to stop practicing; failure to stop practicing might result in disqualification. An immediate suspension will be signaled by One 75 second blast when lightning is within 10 miles of CCH, please seek shelter immediately.  Three, 5 second blasts signal all clear.  All clear is when there are no more lightning strikes for 30 minutes from the last lightning strike in our area.

Pace of Play – an 18-hole round should take no longer that 4 hours and 15 minutes to complete.  Please refer to our pace of play guidelines.

Resolving Rules Issues During Round
You must not unreasonably delay play when seeking help with the Rules during a round.  If a referee or the committee is not available in a reasonable time to help with a rule issue you must decide what to do and play on.  You may protect your rights by playing two balls in stroke play.

Ties:  Sudden Death Play Off for 1sr Place Only. The competition is final when the trophy has been presented to the winner or, in the absence of an awards ceremony, when all scores have been approved by the Committee.
